1. Review LSC decisions re: the timeline, the rubric, and the division of tasks.

a. The timeline was approved by the LSC
b. The timeline posted on the PTO/LSC blog
c. The timeline will be turned in to posters and posted around the school.
d. The timeline will be sent to all principal applicants via e-mail.
e. Timeline may be lengthened by the LSC if needed – 48 hrs. notice will be given
B. RUBRIC: Laura and Mary revised the rubric after receiving feedback from the PSC. The LSC approved the rubric during the special meeting.
a. Rubric is a public document; we plan to post it on the blog as well.
C. Division of Tasks:
a. PSC will continue to meet and make recommendations to the LSC.
b. Committee members have volunteers to do several tasks:
i. Timeline descriptors: Nicole / Sabrina
ii. Rubric: Laura / Mary
iii. Interview question gathering: Juan
iv. Tracking resumes: Reina / Mary
v. Initial & Rubric Screening: Juan, Linda, Mary, Nicole, Laura, and Mike
2. Update on Postings and Costs
A. CPS – Posted 5/16 will be up for a total of 6 weeks
B. NAMTA – Posted 5/18 by Nicole Cantello
a. Cost - $36 awaiting reimbursement from the donation box
C. ISBE – Sabrina is still searching for the password
D. Chicago Tribune – Ms. McDonald offered to post the short job description on the Chicago Tribune website during the last special LSC meeting
E. Education Week – Monica Lasky will most likely front the entire cost of $350 to post here (electronic version).
3. Collection box for LSC principal selection funding.
A. PSC revisited this topic at length.
B. The LSC voted to allow donations only through the anonymous donation box in the office.
C. The box is in the office – thus far it has only received one donation.
D. There is a request for donations posted on the blog – it is sticky so it will remain at the top of the post lists.
E. More funds are needed.
4. Update on the collection and tacking of resumes.
A. Reina is keeping resumes in the office, locked.
B. Ms. Wheatley is logging all resumes into an Excel spreadsheet.
C. Currently there are 27 resumes.
D. Resumes will be stored in a locked cabinet in the computer lab – screeners see Ms. Wheatley or Ms. Bago for keys.
5. Report on initial screening process.
A. Screening pairs:
1. Linda and Nicole
2. Mary and Laura
3. Mike and Juan
B. Pairs have met and will continue to meet. Screening will use the four criteria approved by the LSC: Montessori, administrative experience, professionalism, and elementary school experience.
C. “Scores” are being recorded any questionable resumes will be passed on to the rubric process.
6. Final push to gather interview questions.
A. Juan has received questions from 5 groups/individuals
B. DEADLINE IS JUNE 1
C. A request went home in backpacks and is also posted on the blog.
D. Some teachers have sent home their own form requesting questions.
E. Idea to put a poster in the gallery where parents can jot down questions.
F. Possible to post request on the marquee?
7. Discussion of interview process
a. The suggested length of the interview is about 1 hour
b. Candidates would receive a tour of the school, participate in the verbal interview with the LSC members, and participate in a written segment supervised by volunteers from the PSC/community.
c. Suggested that a written portion be sent to potential candidates (those we would like to interview) via e-mail; this allows LSC to see the candidates writing abilities.
d. The entire process is to be discussed at greater length and then approved by the LSC
8. Discussions with area 6 AIO James Cosme
a. Mr. Cosme complimented the PSC/LSC – we are doing a great job and farther along than he thought we would be
b. Mr. Cosme mentioned our timeline and the need to have CPS board approval of our selected candidate.
i. Board meetings occur during the third week of each month.
ii. It is highly unlikely that our candidate, if selected on July 18, would be approved at the July board meeting.
1. Drummond will most likely have an interim principal in place until the 3rd week in August when the next board meeting takes place.
C. Mr. Cosme stated that we can select a principal that does not meet the CPS requirements. In doing so we may have to wait for the candidate to become CPS qualified. LaSalle School chose a candidate who did not meet CPS requirements; Mr. Cosme expects the school to be awaiting approval for a few months – during which time the interim principal will remain in place.
